Today's (24 November 2024) live stream from Zimbabwe was a disaster.
Had a chat to a technician at Borrowdale about the erratic Internet connection to YouTube from Harare. They are aware of the problems experienced today. They did change their Internet Service Provider, I was told, but today's connection quality was several times worse than their previous provider. So the change over to a new provider clearly didn't work.
I am not at all familiar with Zimbabwe's Internet services or the quality of them. So I am not sure what options Borrowdale have but today's performance was completely unacceptable.
We, at Formgrids, will give this another try for the next Zimbabwe meeting but if this atrocious Internet quality remains then we will pull the plug on future live feeds. We are not sure right now how many races were even transmitted in full today but we will go through the entire feed later tonight.
We at Formgrids have provided this service for free. One of our team sits here for four hours with no pay and a whole day is wasted like this which could have been better utilized on other vital projects.
