Cape Town, February 2025 - The highly anticipated 2025 BSA Cape Yearling Sale is set to take place on February 23rd at the SARDA Centre in Constantia, Cape Town. This premier event promises to create new ownership opportunities for those looking to break into the horse racing industry.
In a bid to boost the horse population in the 4Racing regions, 4Racing will be offering a transport subsidy to owners who purchase horses at the sale and transport them to Johannesburg or Gqeberha.
Furthermore, 4Racing has announced the introduction of two new "BSA Sales Races" to the juvenile programme in 2026. These exciting events will be run over 1160m at 4Racing's Turffontein racecourse, with one race exclusively for two-year-old fillies and the other an open race for two-year-old colts and fillies. The dates of these races will be confirmed once the 2026 fixtures are finalized.
These incentives are set to attract a wide range of buyers and trainers to the 2025 BSA Cape Yearling Sale, and are expected to have a positive impact on the growth and development of the horse racing industry in the region.
These races will be open to any BSA graduate purchased from the following 2025 BSA sales:
- The BSA Cape Yearling Sale
- The BSA National Yearling Sale
- The BSA KZN Yearling Sale
- The BSA August 2 Year-Old Sale
Only the BSA “Added Stakes” programme qualifiers will be eligible to compete in these races.
In a further show of support, 4Racing will be funding the total stake of R400 000 per race. To make these races even more competitive and accessible, 4Racing will also subsidize transport costs for all out of town runners in these races.
These initiatives demonstrate 4Racing and BSA’s commitment to fostering owner growth, adding excitement to the juvenile race programme, and to enable trainers to grow their bloodstock and reward owners with new race opportunities.
