The 2024 ARIMA KINEN (The Grand Prix) (G1) in Japan won by No. 8 Regaleira with a very close second by No. 16 Shahryar.
Regaleira breaks 64 year old Arima Kinen record.
The world's biggest betting race produced an unforgettable display of determination and class as Regaleira, a three-year-old filly by Suave Richard, etched her name in the history books with a dramatic victory in the 69th Arima Kinen (G1).
Overcoming a slow start to her season and fierce competition from nine Group 1 winners, Regaleira became only the second three-year-old filly to capture this coveted title since Star Roch’s triumph in 1960.
Jockey Keita Tosaki, who partnered with Regaleira for the first time, expressed his delight and relief post-race.
“I knew a good start was critical, and though we may have been a fraction late, we managed to settle into a good position,” Tosaki shared. “Her response in the straight was tremendous, but the competition was so fierce, I wasn’t sure if we had won. I’m incredibly grateful to the connections for entrusting me with this ride.”
